Improvements to the University Parkway (S.R. 316) Location: Gwinnett, Oconee and Clarke Counties, Georgia Owner/Customer: Georgia Department of Transportation Sugarloaf Parkway Interchange at S.R. 316 Complete reconstruction of S.R. 316 and Sugarloaf Parkway interchange including the demolition of the existing Atkinson Road bridge and reconstruction of a new four-lane median divided bridge; construction of reinforced earth walls, a loop ramp onto S.R. 316 and three additional northbound and southbound ramps from Sugarloaf Parkway; construction of a new intersection. Lawrenceville-Suwanee Overpass at S.R. 316 Construction of a new four-lane median divided bridge over S.R. 316, between the Riverside Parkway and S.R. 120 interchanges; construction of a new four-lane median divided bridge over the Norfolk Southern railroad, adjacent to the Gwinnett Medical Center; construction of a new four-lane divided highway between S.R. 120 and Old Norcross Road. Athens By-Pass Construction of new twin bridges--the first "Bulb-Tee" pre-stressed concrete bridge beams used in the state of Georgia--on U.S. 78 East, to create the underpass for S.R. 316, and new on/off ramps from U.S. 78 to S.R. 316; construction of 11 miles of new concrete paved four-lane divided highway from U.S. 78 East to Epps Bridge Road; widening of Epps Bridge Road in stage construction; construction of new ramps onto the Athens By-pass, concrete flat work and numerous box culverts. |
