17th Bridge Over Norfolk & Southern Railroad Location: City of Atlanta Owner/Customer: Georgia Department of Transportation Project Description: Construction of a new multi-lane, median divided, pre-stressed concrete bridge over the Norfolk Southern railroad--the parapet walls of the bridge were formed and poured-in-place in the "classic rail" design; construction of a four lane roadway connecting Atlantic Station with Northside Drive; the realignment of Bishop Street; construction of a concrete retaining tie-back wall along Northside Drive at the Hemphill Water Treatment Plant and two reinforced earth walls; construction of sidewalks, lighting systems and asphalt overlay. |
